Welcome to Making beds and cleaning rooms.

The cleanliness and presentation of guest rooms can greatly impact the reputation of a commercial accommodation establishment. This microcredential explores the knowledge and skills required by housekeeping attendants to ensure guest rooms meet organisational standards and customer expectations. It also looks at how these standards and expectations can be met while working safely and using resources efficiently.

Making beds and cleaning rooms contains ten lessons. By the end of this microcredential, you will have the knowledge and skills to:

• access guest rooms following organisational procedures and respecting guest privacy
• strip beds, check bedding and replace linen
• make beds
• clean rooms using hygienic practices
• clean rooms using cleaning agents suitable for the task and specific area
• work with minimum disruption to guests
• identify and respond to hazards when cleaning
• identify pests and take action 
• reduce your environmental impact when cleaning.
